This summer we are once again using the school summer holidays to do some construction work at the American School in Barcelona. There we are carrying out two projects: the reform of the main building (phase 2) and the improvement and urbanization of C. Jaume Balmes. In this second phase of the reform of the main building, the project consist of demolishing internal partitions, making new interior distribution with the adaptation of existing walls and new partition walls and partitions in office areas, adaptation of existing false ceilings, execution of false acoustic ceilings in common spaces, change of facilities and new coatings in walls and pavements of vinyl and carpeting, change of aluminium carpentry and installation of silent glasses in the walls between corridors and classrooms. In the second project, the improvement and urbanization of C. Jaume Balmes, the work to be done is: mill the current asphalt and demolish the entire sidewalk, make new street layout to make a parking area and stop for cargo and unloading of children (kids & ride), paving and making sidewalks with the new layout, carrying out installations and installing new lighting and street furniture. These projects have a duration of two months, from the end of June to the end of August, they have been designed by the architects Ferran Besa and Roger Mercadé, from the studio Arq71 and they are led by Carlos Lara as project manager, Pere Farín as production manager and Rafa Pérez as foreman.
