Hoteles BESTPRICE is a Spanish company founded in 2014 and run by brothers Oscar Sánchez and Juanan Sánchez. They currently have 10 hotels spread across Barcelona, Madrid, Girona, Valencia, Santillana de Mar, and Málaga, and their value proposition consists of offering comfortable and functional accommodation at a very competitive price.
At Maheco, we are well acquainted with this hotel chain because we built their second hotel in the Gracia area of Barcelona back in 2015, and the one in Girona in 2019. Since the end of 2024, we have been building their new hotel in the Passeig Maragall area (Horta-Guinardó) in Barcelona, and construction will soon begin on a new BESTPRICE hotel in Barcelona.
These successive projects are part of its expansion strategy in all of the country's provincial capitals, in locations that are well connected by public transport and that allow the company to offer affordable rooms within a reasonable distance of the city center, making the offer attractive to both tourists and business travelers.
A few days ago, the newspaper El Pais reported in an article on this trend led by BESTPRICE of opening hotels in industrial areas, specifically in the Julián Camarillo industrial area in Madrid, where the Catalan chain has the BESTPRICE Alcalá and BESTPRICE Alegría hotels. Other chains such as Ibis and Spark (Hilton) have followed BESTPRICE's footsteps and opened hotels, turning the area into a well-positioned place to stay halfway between the city center—just eight metro stops away—and the airport. It is coveted by hoteliers, who have already opened eight hotels since 2020 and have seven more in the pipeline.
The regulation of tourist apartments is revitalizing the hotel industry, which is finding affordable land in areas that have traditionally been industrial and have been converted into technology hubs, and where corporate offices are not fully filled and have stopped proliferating. This allows the sector's expansionary trend to continue, and in fact, the BESTPRICE chain is looking for land to build a third hotel in the Julián Camarillo area.
