Construction Completed on the 16 Cooperative Housing Units in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi

Construction has now been completed on the 16 cooperative housing units under a right-of-use model located in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, next to Parc de Joan Raventós and close to the Ronda de Dalt. The project was developed with the aim of promoting a residential model based on community living, sustainability, and collective access to housing.

The development has been designed as a co-housing space intended to encourage community life and interaction among residents, incorporating more than 400 m² of shared spaces distributed throughout different levels of the building. These communal areas complement the private homes and help foster collective dynamics and social interaction.

The building integrates naturally into the park surroundings, establishing a direct relationship with the green areas. Its design is based on a functional, flexible, and environmentally conscious architectural approach.

The balconies and exterior openings connect the homes with the park environment while offering incredible open views over Barcelona. The homes are distributed across the ground floor and three upper floors, with four apartments per floor and two different housing typologies:

  • Large apartments of approximately 64 m², including a kitchen, living-dining room, three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a patio or balcony.
  • Smaller apartments of approximately 40 m², consisting of an open kitchen-living-dining area, one bedroom, and one bathroom.
All homes share an interior layout organized around a central kitchen and bathroom core, allowing for greater spatial flexibility. In addition, the building includes a multipurpose room with its own bathroom for shared uses and occasional community needs.

From a construction perspective, the project prioritizes the use of natural and recyclable materials, as well as solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving energy efficiency.

The combination of wood and concrete in the structure provides thermal and acoustic comfort to the homes while optimizing resources and reducing the building’s energy demand.

With the completion of the works, this new cooperative housing building establishes itself as an example of collaborative and sustainable housing in Barcelona, promoting a different way of living in the city based on community, environmental responsibility, and the social use of housing.
